The work was created in partnership with the ceramist Yuko Hayashi as part of the takumi know-how program, twinning craftsmen with the cities of Kyoto and Paris.
A specialist in urushi lacquer, Nicolas Pinon trained in cabinet making at the Boulle school, and was a student of the great lacquer master Nagatoshi Onishi in Japan. Since 2013, he has dedicated himself exclusively to Japanese lacquerware and conducts his research using new technologies such as 3D and laser engraving. He was awarded the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris and the Bettencourt Dialogues Prize in 2020.
